Write Now! with Maggie are intense pen to paper writing workshops involving the nuts and bolts of crafting a novel or memoir. These sessions range from one hour to all day and provide direction and tools for better writing. Participants use their own stories for the writing exercises. For those beginning a work, these workshops generate ideas. For those finishing a draft, this is an opportunity to strengthen the story. These workshops are appropriate for all stages in a writer’s career from dreamers to published authors. My sessions provide hands-on tools and are not philosophical lectures. These are popular topics and will bring in more participants to your conference or meeting.
My experience in publishing fiction and my method of teaching ensure the participants will advance in writing skills.
“Maggie Bishop presented two workshops at the Blue Ridge Writers’ Conference March 28, 2009, in Blairsville, Georgia. Both were well attended and well received. Maggie has a professional manner, a wealth of enthusiasm and a generous attitude toward the people in her workshops. She takes a hands-on approach, giving participants ample time to do guided writing exercises during the workshops. She was part of a 3-person panel on Guerilla Marketing. She made a lively and informative presentation during this session as well. I would recommend her as a presenter for any audience.” Carol Crawford, Blue Ridge Writers’ Conference Coordinator
” By the time I left Maggie Bishop’s workshop on the development of characters in fiction and non-fiction writing, I felt I’d condensed two semesters of graduate-level writing courses into one day. She knows her stuff and knows how to impart it to participants.” Lissa Brown
“Don’t begin your novel until you’ve spent a day with Maggie Bishop at one of her workshops on character development. She’ll save you months of frustration with her sure-fire method of analyzing the people who will drive your story.” Leslie Brunetsky, author of Real Country: From the Fast Track to Appalachia
“The workshop on Writing a Memoir was thoroughly prepared, organized, and delivered by an experienced author, complete with handout, outline, and lined space for several in-class writing assignments. She is comfortable and delightful and answers questions directly and thoroughly.” Stewart R. Roberts, Jr., M.D.
“Maggie’s generosity in sharing resources and skill as a wordsmith and storyteller are inspiring. She is highly-organized, current with trends, and always looks for the benefit of all. She has rightly been tapped as one of Eastern Carolina University’s 100 Incredible Women.” Evelyn Asher, “The Managing Editor” Adjunct Professor, Mass Communication, Brenau University
“As an active member and Past President of High Country Writers, I recommend author, Maggie Bishop, as a workshop presenter. She brings her strong life skills of professionalism, enthusiasm and persuasion into her workshop settings. I have attended two of her workshops and left motivated to finish my novel and inspired to be the best author I could be, thanks all to Maggie and the very relevant content of her workshops.” Wendy L. Dingwall, Author of Hera’s Revenge
